The short version
- A Stilltide number belongs to one parent, who uses the Stilltide app. They give the number to their co-parent.
- You opt in by texting that number yourself. Stilltide never texts a person who has not texted the number first.
- Right after your first text you receive one notice that says what the number is, how often you may hear from it, the cost, and how to stop.
- The number is not advertised anywhere and is never used for marketing.
Step 1 — you are given the number
The parent opens their Stilltide app, which shows their number and offers a text to send you from their own phone. This is a screenshot of that screen in the app (the number is an example):
The text reads: “Please use this number for everything about the kids from now on: (612) 555-0123. Messages to it are read in Stilltide, an app that helps me read and keep co-parenting messages as a record. Msg & data rates may apply. Text STOP to that number to stop its replies.”
Step 2 — you text the number first
Opting in means texting that number yourself, about the children. Any first text does it. You can also text START to receive texts again after stopping.
Step 3 — the one-time notice
Right after your first text, the number replies once with this notice. It names Stilltide, says how often you may get texts, that message and data rates may apply, and how to stop or get help:
“Stilltide: this number uses Stilltide, a service that helps the person you are texting read and organize co-parenting messages. Messages are processed by software and kept as a record. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
Step 4 — you stay in control
- Reply STOP to stop all texts from the number. You get: “Stilltide: You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.”
- Reply START to receive them again.
- Reply HELP for help. You get: “Stilltide: Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg & data rates may apply. Questions? Email support@murraymovementlabs.com.”
After the notice, the only texts you receive are replies the parent writes and chooses to send. Message frequency varies with the conversation. Message and data rates may apply.
